Amending a Final Declaration

Amending a Final Declaration

Spotted something wrong after HMRC accepted your Final Declaration (a missed expense, an updated PAYE figure, a loss you forgot to bring forward)? You don't need to start again. Open the Final Declaration page for that year and select Amend.

Amending reopens the annual adjustments, losses, PAYE and other income steps so you can correct the figures and send whichever ones changed. Once you're done:

1. Get HMRC's calculation now triggers an amended calculation (`intent-to-amend` rather than `intent-to-finalise`) and shows the same full breakdown as the first time round.
2. Declaration asks you to agree to the same HMRC wording again, then submits a confirmation of the amendment (`confirm-amendment`) rather than a fresh declaration.

Once HMRC accepts the amendment, the page shows the new declared date and, if the amount changed, the updated total feeds into your payments on account the same way the original declaration did.

There's no limit on how many times you can amend within HMRC's own amendment window; see Filing your Final Declaration for the rest of the flow.
